beta 4.2 popping

I am starting to get some popping with the beta 4.2 tune when I get on it hard at higher rpms? I wonder if I need more line preasure, at idle it is 25psi, driving it is around 23 psi, when I get on it, it drops to 8 to 10 psi. the rail psi last time I had the gauge hooked up was 26,500 so there is plenty of fuel there. Not sure what the popping is coming from?

Are you running even or odd number levels? If running odd try even for reduced timing.

Beta 4.2

It's not the 4.2,.. it's your tune on all your mods. You need to experiment. Usually it's rail pressure or too much timing. It does it at the 3rd to od shift,..right?

3rd 4th and 5th at high rpm 2800 to 3200. The popping is very light the untrained ear would not even notice it. It just started doing it this week it has been fine for the first two weeks when i did the mods. I tried tnt and poping was loud. back the timing down and it went away but so did the power. so I put the 4.2 tune back in and it has been fine for two weeks and now very faint popping? I may have to try different settings on the mp8.

I believe this is one of the reasons sw7 is a better tune for the 03-04s on the 4.2. Try that out and see if the popping comes back.

Toms right there's something about sw7 our trucks love over 9, the power and sotp feel is more noticeable. This seems to be the case on all the betas for my truck also.

What, I've been rollin lvl 9? Im trying this out in the A.M., I've downloaded 4.2 as TCR reccomended it, but I'll have to see about this. I'll report back tomorrow with lvl 7 results!

BTW TCR, 4.2 is pretty awesome. Cleared up my low end lag with the HTT.

Amen! Put it on level 1 if touchy throttle is an issue(for towing or such), it still has GOBS OF POWER! My best DD combo was level 1 4.2 and a touch of pressure from my Quad............ahhhhhhh, the good ol' days!..........Bob/Marco..........4.2PoD

I will have to do some more driving on sw7 but for now I think sw9 has a touch more power. But like I said I will have to do some more driving and see.
