Best Torque Converter?

Best Torque Converter?
I was looking to pick one up for a chipped 2005 Quad Cab Long Bed. I want one that I don't have to worry about breaking, but I don't want one that changes the feel of the vehicle much. I'm not really heavy into racing and I don't want to feel like I'm being tossed forward for every shift. I just want something beefier that I don't need to worry about anymore? Have any suggestions?

You better keep the stock tc, with any aftermarket tc you are going to feel a big differance!!?!!

When I put my Gorend tripple disc in my truck it was a completely different truck to drive. It stall a lot lower than stock(about 600-800 rpm as 1500 or so and a "loose" feel stock) And when this thing locks in OD and you move the throttle a 1/16" down you get set into the seat pretty hard, not the spongy feel of the stock thing. But the shift between gears didn't change much. The converter is not locked then. You can run a switch to lock manually but Dave at Gorend said it would snap the stock shaft, and not to use switch unless trans had a billet shaft. All smiles with my converter though....You dont know what your engine can feel like without it. I had no clue how this thing would pull with the stock one. They slip something awful, and that builds some serious heat. After studying the trans problems of these dodges I think the converter is the main problem- then the valve body. I still intend to change that also.

Guys, The order of doing the tranny should be flexplate, torque converter, valve body, shafts, internals. Most of the triple discs are great. I like the new ATS five star, but the biggest thing is support for what you buy. Not all aftermarket flexplates are guaranteed to fit with other torque converters as the torque converters and flexplates are thicker. Check with the vendor to ensure a good fit. ks

I've got a DTT VB in my truck and it's holding 371hp great. I beat on it daily and it's never once slipped. I'd say just do the VB. Best thing to do though is call up Stefan at DTT and ask him what he thinks you should do. I was gonna upgrade both my TC and VB and he talked me out of the TC because he said with the extra strain of the low stall I'd risk blowing my front pump out.

I love the stall on my converter. I just need some more line pressure right now though. Call up Dave at Goerend. His triple disc has a lifetime unlimited mile warranty for $1200. Most all the big tranny companies offer great products, and i think DTT or suncoast would be my 2nd choice, but I think Dave has a pretty big bang for the buck main reason i went with Dave was the warranty, and i knew he did quality work for a very competitive price.

I second Dave Goerend.
Great service & quality product for a very competitive price.
My TC stalls just under 2000 rpm at WOT, vs 2800 rpm for the stock unit.
The tach actually drops between shifts now. Lockup drops rpm by less than 200.
Under part throttle, it'll start pulling hard from 1500 rpm or so
You'll be able to get up to 60mph in a hurry, without going over 2k rpm
And that's with a stock engine.
