a friend of mine has the sps 62 on his 02 with a power max, fass, and 150hp injectors and his doesnt light nor boost to 50-53 like mine. most boost he can get is 46psi. i dont know what mine would boost if i was to adjust the boost elbow but im sure it would be enough to pop the headgasket(waiting on headstuds) since i can hold 53 in 5th and 6th gear on level 5

I need a quick lesson on elevation and egt's. What I am gather is the air is thinner at altitude so you have to run more turbo? Some guys here are running 62's at 7000' is that on a stock truck? I live at pretty much sea level so can I get away with a smaller turbo? Please correct this dumb kid if Im wrong Id rather take a verbal bashing than a finanicial?

It's simply that at altitude you have thinner air... it affects both sides of the turbo. Your 14cm EH will act more like an 18cm at 7000', thus more lag... on the compressor side it is easier to understand. The same turbo will not feed as much air... a bigger turbo just gives more lag too.. so the same setup is going to give quite a bit less air, and boost at 7000' than at sea level. The first thing you can do to help is use a little smaller EH... with the understanding this will give you higher drive pressures at lower altitudes... everything will be some sort of compromise.

vs the II silver 62 = 62/74/14 & the exhaust housing provides more flow , the 74 wheel on the silver really get's into the wind !
the silver is not as good for towing , but on the street or the track it just flat out ROCKS....
