Hillbilly, Do you tow with your Silver 62? If so how does it do? We have pretty similar setups and I've about made up my mind on the Sb 62, but I want to only do it once. Thanks..

I would go with a SPS62 or the HTT 62/13SS. The larger turbine wheel in the Silver series is not needed on a small size compressor like a 62. Also the 73mm turbine is not a LP wheels thus a lot of the gain from the bigger wheel is negated. Spoolup will be better (especially at 7000 msl) and egt control is comparable. I have run all of these turbos, I like the SB but I am not sold on the Silver 62 or 64 series.

single turbo in a 62 & going for 550 hp
that would be a II silver 62 , it's the king of 62's
guys have made over 600 hp with that little turbo, thats a bad *** turbo

Best turbo is the smallest one you can stand to run with egt's acceptable to you. I read all the time about guys that hit 1200 and say, yep, time for a new bigger turbo! A set up that keeps egts below 1200 at all times is oversized and you are leaving driveability on the table. A smaller setup that hit 1400 or so would be more ideal for street duty.
In a stoplight war, he who spools faster is king, not he who makes the most HP above 3000 rpm.

TDR had a write up on the Garret bb turbo and had nice results. Guys on the second gen forum are starting to run these and have good things to say. I have not heard anything from anyone on this forum yet but do some research, It seems like a good choice.

I think the HTT 62/12/65. I have more than 550 and for daily driving, it keeps it in check. It spools way faster than the 14 housings. I've never tried the 13 but like Big Blue 24 said the smaller the more drivable. My brother has a 14 housing with dragon flow injectors, and off the line I get two truck lengths by the time he gets it lit. I tow with egts under control on performance and tst on 1-1.

I don't know answer to your question. but I just got an HTT 62/65/13ss and love it. I agree with trefling, however, I am just too cheap to get twins.

I know with my sps66 everyday driving/cruising egt is much higher than with the stock turbo. I would say that a set of MPI twins with your stocker up top, as was already mentioned, would best fill your needs. However, your probably not wanting to spend that kind of change so stick with a 62 class turbo be it II or HTT, they work excellent as a top turbo in twins also if you ever want to upgrade.
Without doing twins you really have to decide if you want max power or street power. I have no doubt that 0-60mph/30-60, my truck would be quicker with a stock turbo versus my 66. Now if I can stage up at the start it would be a different story of course. A whole lot of guys have went from stock turbo to big single and worked their way back down to the 62's or finally sold a child and bought twins. My 66 works on the street but to say it is suited to that task or has street manners would be a lie. By the way I have a set of twins ordered from MPI right now, 70k miles worth of sps66 is enough for me.
