Thought I would bring this thread back to life...... As "Santa" brought me a Garmin Zumo. Being a motorcycle rider it gives me the use between my bkes and truck (it comes with both motorcycle and "cager" mounts). Just need to get a second mount for my other bike.
Merry Christmas!

I seriously thought about the Garmin 2720. Costco has a great price on that unit. Bought the Garmin Zumo instead. The 2720 isn't waterproof and has no onboard battery. Needed something to withstand Jeepin'. The voice command navigator has at least one quirk. Mine was set to "American Jill". Jill can't pronounce Indian words to save her life. Set it to "British English". No problems.

I like my Magellan 760. I haul horses all over the country and pick up/drop off locations are almost always on a county or township road. I can find the address 99% of the time.
I'd say a couple of things to consider are ....
The 760 has something like a 2gig hard drive and hold maps of all of North America, plus over 7 million PIOs. Some of the less expensive units only hold "regions" of the US.
Plus it comes with a CD to customize POIs on your computer and download into your GPS unit using a USB cable. You can add too or subract from your POI list and make it custom.
You can keep the maps updated with the same USB cable via the Magellan website.
It'll also allow you to add multiple destinantions in a trip planner. Once all destinations are loaded, you can hit "optimize" and it organizes your locations closest to farthest according to mileage.
Shows current location in lat/long and altitude.
You can travel "shortest time", "shortest distance", "most/least use of freeways", "avoid/use toll roads" ....... so there are many options there as well.

I got the garmin streetpilot 7200, it has a 7" touch screen, and the main selling point for me was it can be hooked up to a backup camera. It is very easy to use, and has been great so far.

Santa gave me a Tom Tom One, fits right under the rear view mirror, has an on board battery- remove the chord when charged.
I am new to GPS, but I am totally in awe of the wealth of information I can get at the touch of a finger tip.
Its accurate and easy to remove at the end of the day, after all it is mine and I don't share my toys with stragers too easily.
I like it alot!!

i use this too, i like how you can track your route, plan for interstate , secondary , or back roads. i also like how it shows fuel stations ( not sure about deisel though) hotels, campgrounds, and family attractions . the very first time i used it though my laptop hibernated on me while in the I-15 in Cali, missed my turn , so pulled over hit the recalclate route button and was where i suposed to be in about 5 mins. MS street&trips also come with a phone version you ( hotwire and load it from laptop and use your phone to see where you need to go)

Not sure if you want to go through all this but, here is a possible solution.
I just got a Magellan Roadmate 6000t and one feature is the ability to crate custom points of interest. Most users use this to download known photo radar, red light cameras, speed traps, etc. But if you search enough you can find truckers who share their listings of diesel stations in their area. Just download the file and upload it tothe unit. Works great!
