Spearco as another option. My preference over the other too.

For the money though.... buy something else. You really don't need a cooler unless you're running some high boost or hp. Without that, it really won't do a thing for you.

I think their whole-shibang setup is $1200~, comes with the intercooler, boots/clamps, and intake horn. Seems like a pretty great deal, if you can get past the name all over it...
Bang for the buck, its something to consider, but I think ill hold my money for one from Hellman later....

Ditto, Joes would be one of the good ones.

There are are about the same...and none of them are that much better. The space limitations of the end caps are what really messes up the whole design.
Flow can not really get down to the lower portions of the intercooler...so I am not sure what good the "lower" version of the Spearco is???

Someone needs to think out of the box...make a totally different design...location or something.

I bet relocating the AC condesor somewhere else would give the most bang for the buck...most bang period. There is no way the intercooler and especially the radiator is seeing "full" airflow.

Techni-cooler from Banks...it will allow your turbo to work with greater mods before you upgrade. The inrake manifold is also red...look nice and works well.

I have the banks and it has been good to me with no problems. It has been on the truck for two years.

There is one in the 3rd gen classified on this site for 800.00. Price is a big deciding on a lot of decisions for us.

There is a huge difference in the construction between ours and the banks technicooler. Buying the Banks one would be like going out and buying a brand new VCR today. Do they work, sure how well, a little better than stock. They dont flow any better than stock just have a greater surface area to help cool. They are using what is called tube and fin construction. Exactly the same as what the stock intercooler is made from.
Our intercoolers use newer technology called extruded tubing. This allows for a large reduction in the flow restriction. We are also much larger than the stock. We also have more actual tubes in ours over what Banks has. Extruded tubing allows for a dramatic reduction in the flow restriction. At 70psi we have less than a 1 psi loss from inlet to outlet. That kind of efficiency is way better than stock or Banks.

In truck measured with mechanical gauges at either end?

Have you tested others?

BTW..would you like to explain how the tubing was formed in the OEM or "other" intercoolers? I doubt it was rolled and welded...

Last time I checked all thin wall "tubing" suitable for intercoolers or radiators was extruded???

1 PSI loss at 70 psi doesn't mean much. I can make a twin setup that'll make 90 psi and not flow much air. A pressure loss at a CFM rate or lbs/min makes much more sense for customers.

Also, any kind of cooling help will make a setup flow more. A more efficient intercooler can increase the air flow up to 8%. That is why people are going with ice-water to air intercoolers. This can increase flow up to 15% in the proper setup (without changing the turbo). Intercooling makes the turbo think it is on a bigger motor.

When you are running 30+lbs of boost, there is air in every crevis of that charged-air cooler

I have a Cool Twist Inter cooler. Pictures are in my gallery. I do not know if they are any better or worse than their competition but all I do know is that the price was right and it is alot better than my blown OEM. With the new inter cooler I get lower EGT's 75 - 100 degrees that I can tell also with faster turbo spool up.

My vote is Cool Twist....
