as far as system, You're gonna get a ton of opinions....
I myself have been thinking about getting an A-pillar mount for the Edge Attitude, and mounting a gps unit there....Would look pretty slick..

I have used Garmin, Magellan, and some other brands, and they all worked great. I am currently using a TomTom Go 300 (http://www.tomtom.com). It is by far the most user friendly, easy to learn, and accurate unit I have used. It is touch screen controled so you do not have to press little rubber buttons. It has bluetooth cabability so you can connect on the move and download traffic conditions and weather with a bluetooth enabled phone. The system will then re-route you around the traffic.
The TomTom software is also used in the new Edge A2. So, I am considfering putting my current TomTom in my wife's Armada and getting the A2 for myself.
Just my $.02

Just get yourself a DC GPS Nav radio. I did and it works great. I'll post pics later this week on my web site. The radio is a RB1 I think, I also installed the Sirius Sat radio with it.

I like the Garmin 2620 as well or better than the Alpine-based OEM system in my Acura 3.2TL-S. You might also check out the 2720 and 2730 that have come out since I bought my 2620.

I just bought the TomTom 300 for an upcoming trip I am going to be making, and what a dream. I was messing around with it while coming back from town and routed a course to my house, the voice directions are awesome, my 2 yr old daughter even got a kick out of it. I had an older Magellan (sp?) 315 for many years, but this thing is light years ahead of it. Plus I got it for 699 and it had a 50 dollar rebate. My truck really is starting to look like an airplace cockpit with gauges, radar detector, TomTom, Alipine head unit. I just wish you could hook the GPS up to something and let it drive the truck, now that would be interesting.

I picked up a Garmin iQue (palm and GPS) and so far it rocks. Very acurate and detailed maps and I can easily put it in the wifes car. It also is a fully functional Palm so you can use it for other functions as well.

I would just go with factory nav. Fits in the dash so you don't have any goofy crap to mount. they are 1.5 din so they actually fit and look like they belong.
now if you want aftermarket nav i would still put it in the dash rather than on the dash or the pillar. this all just reduces your visiblity and isn't nesseary. Most nav units are larger than the attitude.
