I have one of the Afe "Superstock" cone shaped drop in filters, although it hasn't been in there for very long. Still, I used to be able to pull the filter minder most of the way down with a brand new stock filter and since installing the Afe it hasn't moved (and I ran the crap out of it several times trying to pull it). It wasn't exactly cheap, but what for these trucks is?

While the stock Fleetguard will pull the 'minder down when new the NAPA GOLD made a noticeable difference in part-throttle response and after a few thousand miles I still didn't see any dust in the housing downstream. That said I still bought the Amsoil which still has the better part-throttle response.

Thumbs up

I'm happy with the new cone style K&N drop in filters. Large filter area & NO dust in the tube at cleanings.

I use the PSM downtube w/AFE PG7 flat panel. The PSM article in the TDR indicated less flow with the cone style vs. flat panel replacement. To be honest, with Smarty on #1,I can't tell the difference between the stock element and the PG7 I'm using.

I have the PSM and a true flow flat filter...was thinking about changing filters to the air filter in the first post, but was concerned it would block the psm opening on the bottom of the airbox...what exactly did the TDR article say? Did it say anything about the PSM / Flat filter being able to support aftermarket turbos? (just got my HTT installed, and worndering if a diff filter / intake system is needed / worth it)
