Best Bang for the Bucks??? Under $1200
I'd Like to spend a few dollars on mods for my 04 Ram 2500 QC Larime H 4x4. This is a CARB 235 HP Cummins. Right now it is bone stock. It has the 48RE Auto tranny. I am thinking that I need guages, a TS Ramifier, and the Smarty. What do folks think? I have been reading this forum for years and am overwhelmed with all of the options. Basically, I'd like to increase mileage and pep up the performance. This is my work truck. I am a contractor. It is now 26 mo. old and has 50k miles on it. I am thinking that this might save me from trading this one in on a clean one.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

You can find a Juice/Attitude used for around $500, take the muffler off and add a nice tip for $120, then get an intake for $169-$430. You'll like it... I promise! With any money left, get it fully detailed and enjoy!

I like the used juice with attitude advise. Then cut off the muffler and get a BHAF. If you got a juice with attitude for 5-600 you could do the muffler and BHAF for 150 or less I would think.

I would say the best bang for the buck would be the Edge because it has all the gauges with it. Then do whatever with the exhaust and intake since it wont really do much but make it sound better.
OR a Smarty and gauges. But that wont give you the safety features on the Edge. Though it will haul A**!

The Edge Attitude for 2006 models has ALL of these gauges:
EGT
Transmission Temperature
Coolant Temp
Intake Temp
Boost (PSI)
Barometric Pressure
Load %
Throttle %
It gets ALL the readings, except for the EGT which you have to install a pyro, from the factory PCM. No transmission probes it install!!
Also, it will record your max readings on A LOT of those above mentioned items. You can also set MAX boost and EGT levels.
Lastly, it comes with a TURBO TIMER! That alone is a $200.00 option.

but he dosent have a 2006, so he wont have turbo timer,, but I do echo the thought of a edge attitude combo,, excellent option for a first spend. It will give you the important guages, and shouldnt overtax your stock tranny. Air intake is important too. I would leave exhaust to last. your truck has a 4" exhaust execpt for the turbo downpipe, which you can buy off of ebay for around $80. The stock muffler will flow well enough for what I think you are expecting.

First should be a cat back exhaust (300-Up), then a decent air intake
(200.00-up) and then a chip with some sort of gauges. Unless you go with a Quad Xzt chip 65hp under three hundred dollars. But gauges really are a must. The quad egts seem to be lower than stock while towing. So now I hardly pay attention to the gauges.
I have the banks cat back roughly $450.00
Finally got the S&B air intake with a dryflow (from the AEM setup) $197 (Jegs) Dryflow $45.00 filter)
Quad standard box 30hp,60hp and 100hp. $404.00
Gauges with three pod set up was around $300. I think.
This stuff is not cheap but is a whole lot of fun. Hopefully you can do most of this stuff yourself. I've never owned a diesel before this one. But it isn't hard to do if your handy. Good luck. Shop around and becarefull aboput saving a few bucks.
