Best aftermarket lift pump for an 04 with intank pump

I had to bring my 04 to the dealer cuz my filter mounted lift pump crapped out. so they installed the in tank pump. my question now is what kind of aftermarket lift pump can i use now to eliminate the intank pump. i was looking into the FASS and the GDP pumps, which one will be less involved in installing.
thanks
matt

You should've done the GDP or Walbro BEFORE the dealer did the intank transformation. It would've been real easy. Now you have to drop the tank.

My vote is Walbro392.

Hey BigSmoke, any chance that your swap is fresh enough that the dealer might still have your original fuel canister from the swap? I've been trying to track one down, but haven't had any luck yet. If you're looking into a smairly modest-sized aftermarket fuel system, you may also want to check into the removed canister as well.

um they did the swap back in june so i dont thing they would have the part still laying around. but i will be talking to them this week and i will let you know if they still have it. another question is they truck has 75,000 miles on it, should them installing the lift pump been under warrenty? because i payed for it, but now that i do the research into it alot of people are saying that its under the cummins 100K warrenty is this true?
thanks

Bigsmoke,
After hours of arguing with the dealer and consulting with a second dealer my lift pump was replaced by the dealer under warranty. No charge to me. Though I think they might have screwed up my fuel gauge but that is another story. I am sure I can get them to fix it.

I just installed the GDP kit in my truck back in November. It was pretty easy. It is a lot easier if you have a pump and fuel cans to pump the fuel in your tank into as you can get it down to the point of almost nothing left in the tank.

For the intank pump you probably need the newer GDP kit which was designed for the 2005 and newer trucks I believe. IIRC it has a new pickup straw that you will need to install. Lary can probably answer this question if you are serious about getting the GDP. He also had the best price available.

The dealer first, if they won't , then call the 1-800-# listed in the owner's manual.

should i buy it from GDP direct or is there somewere cheaper i can get the kit, i was planning on calling GDP tommorrow to have him tell me the best kit for my application. i was looking at the 05-07 competition kit because it is adjustable and it gives you a new line to run to the filter housing. all for the same price as the other one.

i have a 2004.5 ram diesel i bought used. When I turn key forward I can hear my electric lift pump coming from rear of truck by fuel tank somewhere. So it must have got swapped by dealer or I wonder if its a aftermarket one from previous owner. I guess i can look in frame rail for one?

If there isn't one on the frame rail, it is probably in the tank. I think there were some of the 04.5's that got made from the factory that way. If you just have to know whether it was factory or not, look near the fuel canister for the jumper wiring. It will be a 2 wire Deutsch style connector. Gray I believe.
