Bead lock wheels
Anybody know of a bead lock wheel for our trucks that don't stick out TOO far? Or bead lock look a like? I have fender flares so sticking out a little isn't a problem.
Thanks

Weld makes some "simulated beadlocks" as well.
I believe my Stonecrushers are just that.
(Eagle much less $$ than Weld though)

I should be having mine put on 5-4-04. I went with the new American Racing "Mojave Beadlock". I guess it would be better to call'em "street locks" or "sim-locks". Not a real bead lock, legal for street use look pretty cool...I think. I haven't seen them in person yet, tell ya tomorrow.
I'll post pics when I get'em.

At least for the 2nd gens,
factory backspacing is around 6.25 inches,
those rims are 4.625.
Not many aftermarket wheel makers have one with the 6.25".
I heard somewhere that Weld was going to make one though,
with the popularity of the 3rd gen Dodge Diesels.

JohnnyH,
A beadlock is a type of wheel that is popular in racing because it keeps the tire from coming off the wheel. Instead of the tire bead mating to the inside of the rim and held via air pressure the tire is phyically clamped to the wheel. A locking ring is bolted to the outside of the wheel, and the bead of the tire is sandwiched between a flat machined surface and the locking ring. I run beadlock on my racing quads, and I've run air pressures as low as 2psi with no worries of the tires comine off the rim. They're not DOT leagal because if the bolts back out the tire will deflate and possibly fall right off the rim since there is no bead to hold it on without the ring. Typically the locking ring is only on the outside of the rim, but wheels are available that have locking rings on both sides, or just on the inside (popular for dirt track cars).

Got'em! Had them put on yesterday. Everything looks good on them except the center caps. They sent me the wrong ones and these stick out...way out!
Looks goofy as hell right now but will be fixed soon. Overall quality looks very good and they do stick out but, barely.
I'll try and post the pics here. Bare with me, I'm no Bill Gates.
