Battery
Ok I got 53K+- on the truck (I know not to much)and its close to 4 years old.
The 96 I had at about this time the battery on the driver side took a crap and other one followed.....Guy I sold the truck to at 4 years lost them to so it would sound like 4 years is the life. I don't want to be on the road with a dead battery so I would like to do it soon even if the batterys are still good. I plan on putting a RED top Optima in it and want to ask if anyone has anything bad to say about them as far as power on the truck. They still have a 3/7 year warrenty and have used them on everything in the past but the CTD. The guy that sells them to me about 100$ said to use them for the warrenty because the yellow and blue have a 1 year warrenty only. I plan on using that one,or two as the case is, (red top) only if there is not a problem that people have had. I run them, like them, and have had good luck but just don't know about the real world in the newer Dodges with the CTD.
Thanks
Jon

I have always ran red tops, in everything, and I have NEVER had any problems. Most of the equipment we use on our flightline is powered and every single one runs the red tops.

I installed a pair last month and have been very well satisfied with thier performance.
Fitting them is a small challenge (nothing bad really) but worth my effort. I had to make no modifications to get them to fit. The hold downs and bolts worked fine even though the Optimas are smaller than thier lead acid counterparts. I got the Optima red top size 34U, which also exceeded the CA (cranking amps), CCA (cold CA), and RC (reserve capacity) of the lead acid batts I had.
