Hey guys. I just picked up an 04.5 HO 5.9 2wd Dually and was wondering what are some basic mods that I can do to help the mileage out. I was thinking of taking the cat off, putting an aftermarket muffler in the stock exhaust system (looks like a pretty free flowing exhaust in stock form?) an air kit of some sort and a programmer with a mileage tune in it?

I know that I am a newb, but I tried using the search feature and felt like I was going in circles with information that I didnt need.

Your on the right track. Many will tell you that an intake isn't worth the money but the whistle is nice. You should be getting good mileage, a little timing will help you get a little more...something like a Smarty Jr or Quad box.
