banks six gun owners

anyone ever noticed a surge in acceleration
say if you slowly push the pedal down
slowly adding more and more power
until all of a sudden it jerks yer neck off

mine does it in all levels
all speeds
not relative to throttle position
is relative to the amount of acceleration you are asking for

like im driving with switches instead of a pedal

I would explain it as at a certain percentage of acceleration it skips from say 60%- 80%
no running in between

Is it at the same rpm's? The unit does not turn on untill 17 or 18 hundred rpms.

no
not relative to rpm
only amount of acceleration

you must have the old program
the new one comes on much lower in rpm's

im courious if theres any 03-04 HO's doing it
I would imagine many wouldnt notice it
if you are given her gunny right after the shift it doesnt do it

im not getting any answers from banks
two modules and both do it

truck stock doesnt do it
neither does a tst pmcr

a little more info

im not sure exactly how this thing works but if its like the 2nd gens
where the box transitions in at a certain point after using stock fueling up to that point

to me it feels like that is the problem spot

Well ill reply to yourself then...hehe

I have one on my 04 (see sig). I have noticed no stumbling of any kind. I do notice a good jolt when i stand on it but that is just the added power. It is not a jerking or surging action by any means.

Have you checked that there are no codes no the box and that it is set up for your engine through the hardware (product number) and software through the learning? Did it learn the transmission ok? I would check these things then give a call to Banks and ask them. They were more than helpful with me on some stupid questions I had for them.

Good luck hope everything works out well for you.

P.S. How did you verify you have the latest software version installed???

no codes

learning all went through

box comes with HO program so no learning required for engine rating

Nothing like that, I can how ever feel the box kick in and the tranny lock up. No problems driving in traffic.

thats where mine does it when cruising and slowly putting the pedal down

but
if you give her gunny a little quicker it will happen at lower boost than that

just got off the phone with one of the higher ups and sounds like it is what I suspected as far as a transition point

it has to do with the way the box reads throttle position with SOME of the manual transmission trucks
he said its an "idle / off idle type switch"

auto trucks dont do it because they read throttle position different

his fix was to put the old program in it , which is less power on the bottom end

THANK YOU CAR NUT 57 FOR ALL YOUR HELP IN THE MATTER

It by pedal position

They don't want it coming on tooooo soon, or it will cause the truck to smoke alot on take off.

So it lets some boost and rpm build, then it kicks on.

Mine does it too.

I'm having a problem with my on levels 5 & 6 at highway speeds. This thing bucks like no tomorrow. I've called banks and they gave me a RMA to return it for testing.
