Banks Scoop Made To Fit Afe Stage2
Has anyone had a oppertunity to get up close and personal with one? I am toying with the idea when it comes to making it fit my afe box i would thing that cooler air would be better my map always reads at least 25 deg higher than outside air and always believed that it was in part to the temp of the engine compartment. I was thinking that i could cut the bottom out of the afe box to fit the scoop and mabe seal the afe from the hot engine air better than it is. Also does anyone have a price on one i dont like to talk to the pressure sales team if u know what i mean. Thanks for your input mabe we can make the best out of both worlds

I didnt like the Banks scoop cause of the low intake location. I could see the benifit if you on the highway or at the strip but for offroad seems like it would turn into a "mud sccop" instead of an air scoop

ya i kind of thought that as well but figured that i could make a universal block off plate that when i am on the road it would block the fender and when off road can block the scoop. also my concern was high water conditions and sucking water up the darn thing

You could do it cheaper yourself, if you cut a hole in the bottom and added a PVC end you bolt down and add a tube you can expand and contract you would be better off. I did it with my Volant you can see the tube I used was from Spectra. I also used there adapter theo becuse the Volant already had a hole cut in it for there scoop. When it's rainin really bad I just colasp it and when it stops I expand it.

I would find a 4" PVC piece and use the spectra adptor and hose but you need to probablly seal it with with some type of silacone. In the member photo's you can see my set up with the Volant, just remember the Volant already had the hole in the bottom for thier scoop.

I honestly could not tell you because I traded out an AFE to the Volant. Just for the issue you talked about engine heat. I know my idoit gauge for my engine temp stays pretty steady unlike with the AFE. I went up the hwy last weekend with out a load and the engine temp gauge never moved from 195. I was runnin 70 mph. With the AFE I would see the temp gauge jump up over 200 if I was goin over an over pass.

You are reffering to Air Temp correct? It sounds like glocklove was talking about coolant temps. I have a huge open filter to the engine compartment and I see about 30*-40* above ambient temps during hot times. It will be interesting to see what it does in the cooler months though!
