Just got off the phone with DPP...Thanks for the help! Leaning more and more towards Banks ME. If I could only hear one first hand...any one in the Boise Idaho area with this system?
At a minimum, it would be the Banks DP and a 51" Nelson, but I really don't want to mess with all the pieces parts, then have to deal with a muffler shop and try to explain just what I want...been there before

Can you weld?
All that you need is a couple of box end wrenches, 4" band clamps, a sawzall, a grinder, and a small welder to remount the oem exhaust hangers on the new muffler...done deal. Maybe a 1 hour job.

Therein lies the problem no sawzall, though I've been looking for a reason to buy one, or welder (a friend does has a small MIG)...used a MIG welder a few times 20 years ago ;-) Sounds like fun, but those welds wouldn't look very good. I'd probably burn right through the muffer! What takes you an hour would take me days to: buy the parts, the sawzall, borrow the MIG, then try to make it all work. Big job for me Are you going to be around Boise any time soon?

Yes...the weekend before Thanksgiving. Will do an exhaust on my bro's 4.5.
Family has a steel shop out in Caldwell. If you have all the parts and PLENTY of beer, consider it done.
You will need:
Banks DP
Donalson muffler of choice...I use a 40" (34" body) Donaldson
5' of 4" ehaust pipe
(4) 4" band clamps
Your local semi shop should be able to order all the parts other than the Banks DP. You can get that direct from banks or from DPPI.
Let me know.

Okay, the DP, clamps and 4" pipe with elevation for stock tail pipe is on order from DPP. The muffler is on order with Cummins N.W. The beer is on ice!

I will be driving to Boise Nov 19th. We will most likely do the install on Sat the 20th...in the afternoon after I shoot some ducks and pheasants.

Ah calling right now on the V clamp. DPP said to use the 4" extension pipe that has about a 3" rise to match up the muffler and tail pipe. He said they do it all the time and it works great.

DPP says to reuse the OEM turbo to cast elbow clamp, but you have to use a gasket between the turbo and DP, which is supplied with the DP, so it sounds like we are covered...

No...You only need a straight piece of 4" pipe.
There is no gasket between the turbo and down pipe...we want a new V-Band Clamp as well...the stock one is brittle and will bend/brake when removing. Not worth the hassel.
Please make sure the 4" pipe is straight. Order it, the muffler...I would lean towards the 40"...it is not too loud, and the (4) 4" band clamps from Trebar kenworth.
They have a much better price than you just quoted.
Get only the Downpipe and Clamp from DPPI.

I cancelled the Nelson due to the cost. Rogers & Bryant has the M090544 51" in stock here in Boise for $89.00. I know that seems like a HUGE muffler, it is. I'm sure the 40" would fit better, but I want this baby pretty quite. Do you have a part number for the 40"? I'll call you on your cell before I get the muffler ordered or picked up...
