Banks 6-gun with power pda.
Here's my drama.
I had it on my truck for about 8 months then the pda Quit working. So I sent it back to Banks and the sent me a new one. Well about 5 months later I took the Banks system off for warranty work and never put it back on.
INow it set in the garage for a couple of months until I sold it on ebay a month ago. Now the guy I sold it to says he took it to be installed at a off road shop and the shop says the banks module works but that the pda has been over charged and the battery has swelled causing it not to work. Now the guy (buyer) says that the pda works outside the docking station but not in the docking station which makes no sense to me. I told him to buy a new battery and I would credit back the amount on paypal.
So does anybody have any experience with this.
OKAY I know 99% of you do but can we keep the I hate Banks products to a mimimum.
Thanks
Brad

The sales is through. It is his responsibility now unfortunately. I'll leave it up to you if you want to do further business with Banks. My pda went south more than once, internal temperatures and extreme cold don't add up for a pda....

I love my Banks System!!!
I have gone through 4 PDA's....
The PDA is not a Banks product, but they have happily assisted me with getting it exchanged or fixed....
The problem with the PDA is Temperature... The battery did not swell from overcharging... it swole from over heating!!! Ambient Temps higher than 110 degrees (easy to do inside a truck) cause the internals of the PDA to fail... I now carry my PDA with me when I get out and I have not had a problem since...
as far as the cradle, the PDA and the docking station communicate by Infrared lights... if the top of the PDA is obstructed the IR will not transmit and result in it not syncing....
It sounds to me like the PDA has been cooked, whether in your Texas Garage, or his truck... Now that you have sold it he won't be able to send it back to banks.... worst case... he needs to go down to Circuit City and spend $200 on a new Tungsten E2 and install the software on it... then remember to take it out of his truck when he gets out of it!!!
Good Luck

Could you guys elaborate on the "PDA". I bought my truck with the banks already installed so I don't really have any experience with it. What is the "docking station" the PDA plugs into. Is it the larger red box that is under my dash, which is the 6-gun control module or is there some external docking/charging station I never got with the truck? How can you even tell if the PDA is working or not???

You seem to have the one w/o the pda. The docking station mounts just to the right of the radio. You run 2 wires there from the control box and you have your hookup.

I would guess you just have 6gun. You can add the power PDA and it will give you an extra 21hp 32 lb/ft.
Here a pic of the pda in the docking station on my 05'

The guy I sold it to said he drove it on a couple hour drive.
An everthing seems to be working fine now.
But I will keep my fingers crossed just in case.
Thanks for the help.
