I have had both a US Gear and a GearVendors auxillary OD unit (on different vehicles). The GearVendors is FAR superior, in my opinion. I wouldn't even consider the US Gear again unless GearVendors went out of business!!

I was hoping stezlaki was going to reply and tell me what is bad about US Gear.
I hear the negative about Gear Vendor is compression braking down a hill is hard on a clutch inside the unit, is there any merit to this? I am getting closer about making a decision on which unit to go with. Everyone knows the advantages to both as this is what is advertised. I need to know the negatives, which are not advertised.

I didn't think US Gear made a unit that will fit our 06 trucks?? If they do, then I would think it woudl be the better choice, having no clutches, being able to use in 4wd and 2wd...

Gear Vendors is your only option here if you have the g56 as US Gear only made OD units for the older nv5600 equipped trucks. With the 48RE I have no clue if US Gear makes one for those. Your best bet would be to call them and see. I don't see any downside to GV at all it's a good upgrade and worth every penny. I wouldn't have one of these handshaker trucks without it.
