autometer electric fuel pressure gauge
i do not want a mechanical gauge- reason being-gauge is being mounted on the steering column (autometer dual pod for steering column ) too much flexing/rubbing of the line,etc when steering wheel is being moved up and down. don't want to take a chance. i have been checking out the prices on the autometer electric fuel pressure gauges.at summit racing, in the item description of every autometer electric gauge- it said not recommended for the cummins diesel. i have read that the senders may crap out early- but i haven't heard of any problems with the gauge themselves. i know a couple of guys around here are running the electric gauges- any problems??

My Autometer Electrice Fuel Pressure Gauge (Model #4360) was installed almost 6 months ago. Have close to 15,000 miles since then. I have not had any issues so far. Works great. I did not want any liquid lines in the cab or isolators to deal with, so I asked for the electric gauge. A little on the expensive side I guess, but worth it to me. Sender installed in the FASS line to the CP3.

I've been running mine for a year now and no problems. I called Autometer's tech support before I bought mine and they told me that the 0-30psi were designed for Diesel application. Mine is plummed directly to the Vp, test port. I will say before the FASS there was alot of pulsation that I could see because of the crappy lift pump. With the FASS I have constant, consistant pressure.

Autometer electric fuel pressure
I'm running the Autometer Ultra-Lite electric fuel pressure gauge 0 -30 psi scale in a pod over the rear view mirror (see photo gallery). Really like it and am thinking or going with the 0 - 15 psi gauge as the highest pressure I see is 9+ psi at idle. The best scale is one that operates the gauge in the middle third of the scale. Having said that if you are going to install an aftermarket lift pump the 0 - 30 would be better for that application as most guys run 12 to 15 psi. I have purchased the Geno's fuel filter cover tapped for the sending unit and like that setup also. Have had 0 problems with this setup.

I spoke with Autometer also before I made my purchase. Tech said that our Cummins was notorious for killing their sending units and they recommended not using it on the engine. That is the main point; don't mount the sender to the engine. Use a tee and fuel line and mount it elsewhere. Too much vibration, I guess, from the injection pump and engine itself.

i also email autometer about these gauges, and what they told me is that the vibs were not the big problem but the spikes in the fuel pressures is what kills the sending unit. i never did get the gauge, but as i read this, i just might.

autometer told me today to install a pressure snubber in the line, before the sender- that it would protect the sender and i should have no issues- they sell them for ten bucks

I had emailed Geno's inquiring about an egt gauge a fuel pressure gauge with a steering coloum mounting system. They E mailed me back saying that the fuel pressure gauges are not nessesary in the 03's. Said to give him a call and he would explain it to me.
What's the reasoning for this?

they told me the same thing this week. basically they told me that the 3rd gen trucks don't have the same problems as the 2nd gen trucks did and that are set up is alot more reliable -which meant that a fuel gauge wasn't really neccessary
