Autometer C2's To Bright

I tapped my ilumination wire into the one for the heater control lights. I can dim my factory gauge panel almost completely off and there still extremely bright. anybody know what to do to dim them up a bit?

Just an idea---mechanical not electrical ---go to a tint shop and I bet they would give you some scraps of whatever darkness window tint you wanted. Be crafty and cover guages and I bet it would look cool. Also, if you did not like it, you could take it off. Also if you have a bud that works in hospital, get some X-Ray film to cover it. I've seen that over license plates. Again, however dark you like. I think window tint would work better though, as it is made to cover glass. Maybe worth a try. Good luck.

Ive got this problem also! I get alot of compliments on my gauges but dang they are bright!!! Autometer offers a dimmer box and its around 40 bucks through summitt, give them a call and that should be your fix.

I used a rheostat (voltage regulator) and then wired that between the gauge and the fuse box. Same as the Autometer mentioned above, but cheaper.

Go to pepboys and buy the bulb colored covers, I put blue ones on mine and they look cool plus they're not so blinding. They also have other colors, red, green, etc...

Auto Meter had a Dimer switch for around $30.
You can get it at http://www.dieselmanor.com/autometer/AM-9114_dimmer.asp or www.dieselmanor.com under gauges

What resistor did you use? I got 330 ohm .5 watt from Radio shack. I had to couple all 5 in the package together to get it close and its still too bright. I assume I need about a 2000 ohm resistor, or does going up or down on watt rating do anything?

'06 factory match pyro. Bulb is internal, no way to get to it.

3300 (3.3K) Ohm 1/4 watt resistor did the trick. $149 for 5 at radio shack.
