Anyone want to help get PML covers designed for our front-ends?
The product: www.yourcovers.com
My inquiry: There is considerable interest in your product at the two main Dodge
Diesel internet forums: dieseltruckresource.com and
turbodieselregister.com
I am taking the lead to inquire about product availability for the new (2003-2004) 3rd Generation Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. With this latest evolution these trucks now use American Axle 9.25" front, and 11.5" in the rear rather than the Dana axles they previously used.
Will the GM 11.5" 14 bolt cover listed on your website work in this
application?
Do you intend to market a cover for the front axle on these trucks?
Statistics show that the majority of 3/4 and one-ton Dodge trucks are sold with the Cummins engine (therefore the larger 11.5" rear-end) and 4WD (therefore most members of these forums are interested in purchasing a matching set for front and rear).
It is my understanding that Mag-Hytec is now releasing a cover for these front axles as well as the rear. Based on my particular needs I would prefer your product.
Response: We don't have access to these trucks in all their variations to be able
to definitively say whether our AAM 14 bolt 11.5" diff cover (PN 9511) will fit on all 2003 and newer Ram 2500/3500.
What I can tell you is that we have had a customer with an 03 3500 Dually who purchased this same cover. After he installed it, I spoke with him and he told me that it was a very easy install and that it fit perfectly. There was no issue with spare tire clearance although he did have a long bed.
For the front diff cover, we don't offer anything at this time. Our
intention for 2004 is to come out with several new products for Dodge applications because they are not available elsewhere. A front diff cover for the AAM 9.25" could be one of them. Front diff covers are much more difficult to design because we have to make sure that the new part clears the steering linkage, track bar, and other suspension parts and typically clearance is tight. If any members of these forums live in the Los Angeles area and would be willing to let us look at their truck so we can see what is involved, that would certainly help us move forward on this project. Contact David Tolin at 310-671-4345.
If you look at our website (www.yourcovers.com) and click on "More Info" and then "Products under development" you'll be able to see what we are working on and estimated availability. Once on the products under development page, there is a sentence that reads "Don't see the product you need? Let us know (Click here)!" If you click on this link, a form will come up that you can fill out indicating what you'd like to buy if we made it. The owner looks carefully at the responses we get and this
helps him decide where to invest money in tooling. If you know that what years and applications use the same parts please indicate this.
Thanks for checking with PML.
Anyone in the LA area want to contact them?
Other interested parties should fill out the survey to show our interest: http://www.yourcovers.com/newprodfeedback.html
