stock 235/80's are 9.25" wide and 31.8" tall
255/80's are 10.03" wide and 33.06" tall
265/70's (like a SRW) are 10.43" wide and 31.06" tall
they are not much narrower than 265's (10mm)...I doubt if you'd find them too narrow if your looking for something almost as wide as stock SRW trucks.
I had a set of 255/85 R16's on my 2nd gen SRW...they will look a little narrower because of the extra height.
I'm sure you can find some 2nd gen pics with 255/85 R16's on a DRW...quite a few guys run them...they will be really really close to 255/80 R17.

Thanks, clarson80. If they are only a 1/2 or less narrow than the 265's that would be fine with me. Just hate to spend that kind of money and not like them, but your info sounds good! I would love to see some more pics if anyone has any?

diesel junkie, thanks for the pics! If you get a chance to post us some more pics that would be greatly appreciated!! Could you measure how wide is the tread on yours and how much space between the duals? Thanks!

Here are some pics of my truck in better res with the 255 BFG Mud terrain KM2s.
1.175" or so between the duals in the rear. No spacers.
No rubbing at all.
Little song out of them, but not bad.
