got hold of a guy around were i live just getting on his feet with a shop that has a 03 motor w/40,000 miles he said he would sell it to me install it all for 6,500 bucks sounded great so i jump on it and the truck is there right now

If you read your owners manual, it tells you how to shut down a run away engine, you need a fire extinguisher handy at all times.

Put truck in 6th in a garage at 4500 rpm.....hahahahahahaha....maybe your garage.....only way to stop a runaway is fire extinguisher in the air intake .....water in the intake manifold or cut off air to air intake. This one sounds like it was well fueled... If I had oil in the air intake system I would have taken off the complete turbo air pipes and intercooler and washed them out with degreaser and water and then popped off the intake horn or air pipe to the horn and run it with the pipe loose and a water hose close by. I feel your pain...That is a good price for a cummins engine and rere....buddy is being very good to you.
