i think coatings are a way to keep the engine living longer at a higher HP, a good coating on the top of the pistons that reflects heat and a teflon coating on the side of the pistons, below the skirt would be a great benefit, I think

That's not a coating. It's a polishing process using walnut shells. Alot of racers are using them on their ring and pinions, cams, cranks, etc. Gives a little more life to severely abused parts. I don't think you would want to do that to a piston though.

Don M those pistons are for my 12v project truck. My boy is deployed and his good friend and fellow service memeber is building him a 98' 12v truck in Denver, CO. So not to be out done, I'm building up my old 98' worn out 12v to compete! LOL He don't know yet. I been over on DieselRam.com checking the progress and that's where I got the idea to have the pistons coated. See where a quite competitive family and I cannot let that kid beat me can I? Still got to show him the old man has something let! I'm a gasser guy but have tinkered with diesels too. I actaully just sold my 04 and picked up a 06' Mega cab yesterday. Was just ckecking out the local dealership and there it was! Gave me $23k for the 04' and I added 10k and drove the truck home that day. Sorry about the long post. Got to go.

BUMP.......
Don M ??? : A question came up about your II cam. Is there a need to cut in valve reliefs or is it not necessary ? The pistons will be shaved to 15:1
Kent @ Scheid was asking about specs. I told him I believed it's a drop in replacement but, wanted to ask to be sure. Thanks
