Anyone Installed a Front Receiver Hitch?
Anyone Installed a Front Receiver Hitch? I want to put one on my 2wd Ram so I can attach my Warn winch in case I need a little assistance gettin out of a jam or pulling some else out of one.
I plan on a wire harness to enable attachment of the winch to both ends of the truck. I found a company that makes such custom harness's and will post about them when I receive it.
Any suggestions, advice or tips on how to install and what brand hitch to buy? Thanks Jim

I have a tow-rite on my '01.5. It was real easy to install even with the grill guard. Because I have a Sport I had to cut the edge of the bumper for clearance. Use for a push board for race cars. Works great. Tow-Rite and hidden hitch are now both made by the same company.

jlbrown, What brand is that?
I really would like one that comes out a little higher up, my 2wd is low in the front and I need something that comes out a little higher up.
Looks like I may have to just build one to get what I want. I was hoping to bolt one on and go. I need something that exits in the center of the tow hooks.

I got it from a local shop i deal with it was a little over 100 bucks but when i got my truck they were the only game in town. I cut a small whole in the plastic air dam that was the hardest part of the whole job other wise it was quite easy.
If you look at Mr Browns photo my hitch is a little higher than his. MIne will come through the plastic air dam..

Now the bad part. It hung down from the front bumper 6-1/2 inches!!!! The front bumper is 21 inches from the ground. This thing was laughable. So I sent it back and had to pay for shipping. I would have had to pay a $25.00 restocking fee, but fortunatley the front holes did not line up either. That was my out.
Now I am going to try a Hidden Hitch brand. For $118 its not worth making it myself.

I had hoped for a hitch that would attach level with the frame rails and exit between the tow hooks . Looks like a trip to the Welding shop to get one fabbed up. I have a front receiver off of my Buddy's 03 F-150. I guess I'll just adapt it to the 03 Ram. Thanks for all of the info. Jim

I was also considering a Warn front hitch. I wish I could actually SEE the picture of the hitch installed Maybe it's just my poor quality computer monitor but all I can see is what looks like a black 3rd gen w/ the bumper removed. Nothing else is visible due to darkness of picture.
