With Flux 2's go with the 64/71/13ss for the top end of the 1/4.

The Turbo decision is a Moot point.California will have a visual.............any aftermarket turbo will fail the visual.Unless it gets Carb approval and that aint goig to happen.Just like in the gasser world all mods installed will have to have an EO sticker(and be legit)

This is why I thank God that I was born and raised in the Lone Star State!

Back to turbos. I'm presently running the 62/65/13ss,.. it spools like lightning. However even with stock sticks I don't think you can get to the end of the 1/4 without meltdown. I don't need to go 125mph,.. what I need is to stay cool through the 1/4. So I want to throw three turbos up for conversation and see what you guys think would work best once I put some Flux 2.5s back in her. Here are turbos I think will work but what would work best,.... 64/65/13ss; 62/71/13ss; 64/71/13ss.

THOUGHTS???
I thought you were staying stock this time around?Hp bug done bit again?

My flux 2's are a little big for my 62/71/13ss so if you are looking at 2.5's I would say at least a 64.You already know twins would be the best route so no need to go on with that discussion.I wish I had gone with the 65 wheel cause I plan on putting an S475 under mine and want the quicker spool.

1st it takes awhile to recover from over $10k of expense. 2nd I will have to keep it in a realm of performance that is more easily serviced as we certainly don't have a shop around here. For me,.. a single is the only option. I want to rock and run a full 1/4,... that's my goal. After all,... that's all you can do at the strip and it's no more than you should do even on a lonely piece of highway. I could care less about a speed that is going to either trash my engine or kill me because the tires I now run are rated around 118. That's plenty good enough for me.

I would sell it and run stock S480 twins... ;-)

My 04.5 with Flux 1's, OEM CP3, and a 62/65/14...Smarty powered now...but Juice before does 525-535 all day long and will make it through the quarter fine. Tows nice at 450.

I would try the 64/65/13 first sice it is the cheapest fix for you. Just a wheel change and very minimal machining on the cover.

Cq,

Tks for the tip. I'll definitely look into that as the season is getting ready to rock here.

SO, do you think that the 62/65/13ss will be too small/hot for my truck or should I look at a 64/65/13?

My truck is an automatic, that will never run the 1/4 mile or do sled pulling.

I tow a 4,000 pound fishing boat 6 months out of the year, maybe 6 times a month.....other than that, just a daily driver

Here are my truck's mods:
MBRP 5" Straight Pipe Exhaust
AFE Bladerunner
IceBox Intake with Cool Hose
Air Dog 150
SMARTY SR POD (Set on #7 Tune)

I have stock injectors and have no plan for upgrading them. I might to an Arson II/III type of upgrade, but that's it....

Look at my sig....almost identical....the 62 will in no way be too hot w stock stix and arson 3 (again, exactly what i have)...i dont tow, but based upon how much you do....you want the best spool you can get....oh, and you can do the 1/4 if you wanted....i couldnt even get to 1400* with TnT on level 7...

I've never tried the 64, so i cant say anything good / bad...but you stated what you wanted, its exactly what i have and i'm telling you that you wont be disappointed with the 62....

Either way 62 or 64...you can change the housing for minimal $'s....i started small becasue i didnt want lag / smoke...and i do plan on getting stix....i bet the 62 can handle F1.5's for daily driving...

Ever come to Arizona? Free test drive available.

+1. With the mods in my sig, I can only get to 1460* in a 1/4 running uphill, with 500# in the bed. I also haul a 4K truck camper, & only see temps above 1300* when @ WFO going up a 6% grade, passing subaru's. I did hit 1560* for a few seconds that time, but that was also on SW-9 TNT. The 62/65/13 will suit you fine.

I am basically running about what you are and I am already too hot with stock sticks and stock cp3! I can hit 1500 around 90mph so it's not enough for the 1/4 as is. At the very least a 64/65/13ss is called for and I may try it due to cheaper fix as Cq suggested because I can always move on up to the 64/71/13ss. I still have the ported head and you don't which should make mine actually lower egts than yours so imo you should be looking at probably a 64/71/13ss.

I have been told over and over that the 71 will not spool, at all, with the stock sticks and a stock CP3, very laggy......yes or no?

How does the 64/65/13ss compare to the 62/65/13ss?

It spools O.K. A little slower but when it gets going, hold on. It is very fun to pull heavy with it on the interstate. I have a blast since I figured out how to tune for it.
