Is anyone happy with their II turbo?
As I posted earlier I am on my third Industrial Injection turbo because of cracks on the wastegate ports. I have not been happy with the spoolup on either the SPS 62/14 or the Silver 62 and could never get boost above 40psi.
Out of curiosity I read through about a hundred random posts to see what people had in their signatures and was amazed that with the exception of a couple Silver Bullets no one seems to be running II turbos anymore. When I first started modding my truck 2 1/2 years ago II turbos where highly recommended, so what happened? Thanks, Tom J.

I have crimped the pressure hose to wastegate and still can't get over 42 psi. I told II right after I installed the turbo that something was wrong because I couldn't get higher boost pressure and they told me that I should feel lucky that I had a more efficient turbo and it didn't need to have higher boost. It was really weird like they where trying to tell me that something was special about my particular turbo and it magically didn't need higher boost to make power and cool egt's. I was told not worry and just run it at 38 psi max and I should be good to go with all my fuel modifications. Now my turbo has cracks in it like my last one and I don't have the money now to fix it.
BTW I was medically discharged from the military last week and I don't have a job or income or now a truck that runs. Yeah!

Just some ideas... could high egts cause the cracking and draining the rail/lack of fuel cause the low boost? When I bought my A2k they told me that boost wouldn't be extremely high cuz the turbine is huge and drive pressure is low. It has a 17 turbine and still spools faster than the stocker. Craig

With my modified CP3 and fuel system I don't have any problems keeping rail pressure above 25,000psi and as far as EGT's I keep an eye on the pyro and have been very careful in an effort to not have to buy another turbo. However it looks like that is exactly what I am going to have to do.
It seems though that a stainless steel exhaust housing may be more resistant to cracks than an aluminum one but II doesn't offer one. Anyway thanks for the reply, Tom J.

I have their tow twins.. sps 62 over a K31 and while they are a pretty hot little set on the freeway, under ten psi they are a smokey mess.. take a long time to spool when not sticking my foot in it.. and even longer while towing.. Im looking forward to ball bearing twins one day..

My II SPS66 is awesome! A little laggy sometimes, but not bad at all with cam and injectors. I can hit about 60 lbs of boost give or take a little.
This turbo has towed 24k gvwr with no surging, and dynoed a cool 558 hp and 998 torque...and that was before the injector/cam/wild rail/TNT-R was added!
I always cool mine down to at least 325° F, and run good quality oil and bypass filter.

I run mine down to 350 deg before shutting down. I have free oil changes for life from the Dodge dealership, I know it is not great oil but I have it changed religiously every 3000 miles. II looked at my turbo and said the oil seemed to be alright but there was some wear on the bearings. I may need to start doing my own oil changes with better stuff. Thanks, Tom J.

ALUMINUM exhaust housing?

II is going to repair my turbo but I have to pay for the parts. For what I have had to pay for turbos in the last 2 years I could have had twins and be done with it. Anyone want to buy a practicly new Silver 62?

I had a SPS66 and a SPS62 in my '03. The 66 ripped from 12 to 60 psi, but was a laggy mess below 12psi. The 62 seemed to spool sooner, but not quite as quickly as the 66. 50 psi seemed to be the sweet spot for that turbo.
With stock CP3 and stock sticks I dynoed 555/960 with the 66, and at about 496-ish with the 62. Forgot the torque number on that one, but the curve was flat as a table, not a peak like the 66.
I liked both of them for what they were. I know more now and would choose something different. Nothing against their build quality, but I was sold bigger turbos than what I needed. Should have gotten a 62/12 and built it into a set of twins when I was ready...
