anyone done this

I was just wondering if anyone on here had taken a mid 90s chevy chassis, and transplanted a cummins diesel in it.
Was it an easy swap, or would one be better to use a ford chassis.
I am looking at a 95 chevy with a 6.5 chevy in it (blown up) big suprise there, that I can pick up for almost nothing, and use it as a transplant vehicle, just looking for some feed back.
thanks Joe

I am sure it has been done. But honestly it may be less expensive to buy a good clean used cummins in the configuration that you like. I see the front end and the powertrain being a nightmare. If you insist on making the swap, i think a mechanical 12 valve would be easier than the newer, more computerized cummins. Good luck!

If you haven't seen this conversion on TDR it's a pretty good read: http://samba.student.oulu.fi/~jpontys/cummins.html

I know it's a Suburban and not a truck (of course you weren't specific in your specifying what type of Chevy, I'm assuming a truck) but this guy is a detail person. Reminds me of a friend I had in my younger years that would paint the gears in the gear boxes of the model trucks he would build (even though the gear box would be glued together). 'But I'd know they were in there' would be his reply
