With a truck your size it will be fun, defiantly get a cherry picker and take the front tires off or let the air out.

Yeah or go to a junk yard and find something with the same lug patttern in small tires. When I melted my piston there was really no warning. I was just running it hard and pop white smoke out the exhaust and would crank and no start. Figured out all 6 injectors where out but number 4 is where most the damage started. These bosch injectors are junk and need to be the first thing replaced. Also ned better filtration with these high prssure trucks.

Yeah. when I said you need to pull the head, I certainly was not saying to do it without checking a few things out first. By checking lash, you might find a problem, and the head may still need to come off or it may not. But if you don't find a problem, you can't just assume the head doesn't need to come off either. It could be possible to have a bent valve or cracked piston and still have the lash check ok.

When I burnt a piston on mt racecar it pressurized the crankcase, it was vented to the atomsphere through the valvecover and you could see a puff of smoke at idle each time that hole fired... not sure how an 06 CTD vents the crankcase if this would show up or not... ? BP.
