Anybody upgraded their TC only????

I have to say the TC in these trucks are O.K. if you pull light. If you put something heavy behind it it sure just plain out ol sucks at take off. Has anybody done only the TC for the auto? Just curious. Is it a big benifit. Don't want to throw a bunch of money at it because I will never get it back IMHO.

Yes a good tc, I think DTT 89% is the best, makes a hugh differance in drivability. The tc needs more line pressure to hold tight since it will be locking at lower rpm's. You should at least put a shift kit in or better yet get the correct valve body.

A chip will wake your truck up and pull twice as hard, but you need to build your trans or you will blow it apart.

Relentless built a truck with twins, edge juice, and just a tq converter, and ran 13.8 on 37" tires...There is a video on the web site.

I put in just a torque converter last week. I can definitely tell a difference. Shifts are firmer and mpg is up at least 2mpg when driving unloaded. I think it was a sound investment. I am pleased. (I bought the GB single disk) PM me if you have any questions.

Nice to feel the rpm's drop between shifts, isn't it !!
Did the same thing last year, just the TC from Dave.
It's been holding up fine to the 100hp Quad (granted, I don't tow)
Best mod, hands down IMO

So how much does the rpm drop between gears? I'm thinking my setup is not right, as I dont see much drop.

Your setup is right.....that's how the stock trans shifts.

I personally wouldnt go with less then a tc and vb,, I wouldnt do one or the other. They are both weak links. But you can do an tc and vb swap for pretty reasonable,, and be worth every penny. And to be honest, an extra 7 or 800 is alot less than a whole tranny, which is probably what is going to happen if you just change the tc
