Any way to test trani temp gauge.
I'm starting to think my gauge is not acurate. The lowest it ever is,,,after warming up, is about 160. Then at stop light's, it's around 190. If I sit at the light long enough it will go to 210. While towing, sitting it traffic it will peg the gauge a 280.
Surely I would have had a temp light come on by now. The light does come on for a second when I turn the key on, so I know it works. The sender is in the hot line. So, any way to test my gauge. Any other thought's. Thank's.

Get a cooking thermometer, pull your sensor out of the trans, put both in a hot cup of water and confirm its reading? Best idea I can come up with! Might work ok.

Mine will go to 160 and then when towing depending on the temp outside will go up to around 190. I have only had it hit the 210 mark once on a hot day going from light to light with 3 cars on the trailer. I have the mag-hytec pan on mine with the probe in the pan.

Get an infra red temp gun,& shoot the brass on the sender after you've driven for a while. It should read a little lower due to air cooling of the tube, but it should be close.Or pull the sender out,& put it in water,& boil it.It should tell you 212* at sea level.lower the higher up you are.
