Any one Ever Used one?

Things like that are why I'm the way I am. I completely took apart most of the toys I ever had when I was a kid, just to see how it worked, and to see if when I put it back together if it still worked. Most of the time it did. I see things like that gauge....how and where does it get all of it's information?

It uses and accelerometer inside.
Most likely you need to input vehicle weight and then they base everything off of an algorithm using the g forces produced.
It is probably neat and handy and you can use it to measure to see if you are doing better or worse but, I would not call it real data. To make it even worth using you would need to use the same stretch of road everytime. Same vehicle weight and same launch style.
I am not saying it is not accurate, it probably is "pretty" accurate but, it is all based on a formula. If you want it to show faster then you can probably enter a heavier weight and then boom, you added horsepower to your truck!
