Any negative results from fuel additives?

My routine is this. With initial fillup of tank, I follow the bottle. Then, if I fill the tank again some where between 1/2 or a tad over, I do not add any additional. When I fillup again, I follow the bottle. Repeat the cycle. I have this thing about not having less than a 1/2 tank when running around. On the long haul, I pretty much go 580 - 620 miles and then do a complete fill and follow the bottle.
