I understand what you're saying. And My intention is not to point the finger. This is kind of a unique situation. What I meant by saying "in a round about way" was that it has been stated that the cast aluminum intakes are better than thermoplastic ones. BD produces a cast intake. Now, people are now steering away from the "Plastic" intake and looking towards a cast aluminum or metal one, thereby increasing sales for the producers building cast intakes including BD. That's all I meant, and I don't have scientific evidence proving my point. Just a theory.

However, if a BD product blew up at their dyno event, I doubt he would have been on here saying "look what blew up today."

That's why I still question these ordeals. It would cause alot of issues for FastCore CFM+ to release a horn with ports for nitrous/meth etc if it couldn't hold the boost. That's why i'm not getting all worked up about it.

I agree. I installed the older one w/o ports. But the horn looks plenty stout.

Have you read the CFM+ warranty? Heres part of it, there not really clear on any specifics...

"This Intake is not intended for use in any competitive event or activities.
This limited warranty is void where the Intake has been used in any of
these ways."

Your car insurance reads the same... so if you ball your truck up at the track you cant claim it.

Every warranty on any of these intakes will state that. Why would you want NOS on an otherwise stock truck? Doesn't make much sense.

a friend who works at a truck performance/off road shop near me told me that cfm+ claims that their manifold is a 'stock' replacement part. if that's the case, they may take no responsibility for higher than stock boost pressure, but the ports certainly don't say 'stock' to me.

Exactly, and I don't think they would make them 2 completely different horns, I think they just added the ports.

Seems like it would be fairly easy to pressure test this product. More than a few folks on this forum have the equipment to do so.

After seeing both the CFM and the AFE I opted for the CFM due to the quality of workmanship over the AFE unit. So far this unit has worked awesome. I believe more details are needed to determine why there have been failures. Composit materials are the way of the future. New aircraft are being built using composits over other materials due to better strength, corrosion inhabition, and weight savings!

sorry to say it but that would take alot more than 60 psi to blow that plastic apart like that i used to work in a factory as a process engineer making thermoplastics. it would take more than 60psi to blow the intake apart like whats in the picture. also if you look at the fracture that is an instant spike in pressure (like a NX backfire) which caused an explosion of the intake (look at the bolt in part the section is curled over). a ramp up to a pressure would only cause the intake to expand until it caused a crack which would leak off the pressure.
