another straight pipe ?

Has anyone used 3" pipe instead of 3.5" to eliminate their muffler. Any thoughts on flow with this versus the stock muffler, better, same, or worse??

The only reason I am asking is because the exhaust shop already had the muffler cut off before letting me know they only carried 3".

A 3" straight pipe will flow more than the stock muffler. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you plan on going over 500hp

Ahhh 500

Nope, I am going to try and stick with the six gun , straight, and airraid with homemade torquetube. I have thought about selling the six gun though and getting a quad race, I just don't want to be slipping the 48re. I like the slip detection with the banks but not the high rail pressure to get the 120 hp numbers.

Just on a side note do many have trouble with the quad race slipping the tranny??? I am assuming since I have heard nothing about this it isn't a problem.

Your stock exhaust is 4". You have the 305/555 H.O.

The exhaust size topic has been beat to death. I have a 2004 305 HP 555 fpt with 3.5" tubing to the inlet and about six inches of 3.5" tubing after the muffler where here it flares to 4". The 600 motors (late 04's) have 4" systems. I just went to the garage and measured my muffler which has a 3.5" inlet and exit.
