Another Revo Fuel Mileage ?

I am going on Vacation tomorrow (no trailer) about 4hrs away. I currently run the revo #7 catcher, moderate torque, and default on timing, rail, etc. Would my milage increase if I backed down to maybe #4 catcher and set my timing to 4 and would I be safe to change the timing around with stock injectors? Any suggestions are appriciated especially with fuel hitting $4.39 here yesterday.
Thanks

With the REVO I would try level 3 and 5 with the timing set to 4. See which gets the best.

I asked Bob and Marco in a message how REVO #7 with timing 4 would compare to 4.11 #7 and did not get an answer.

I am pretty much certain that the CATCHER 1-9 program have changed from 4.11 even though they were supposed to be the same.

I have a feeling that it may be that the maps have less resolution then 4.11 since you are basically storing base maps and modifying them based on timing, rail pressure, etc...

This is my hypothesis as to why 4.11 is more linear and refined throughout the rpms then the on/off behavior of the REVO.

If running REVO on #7 with timing 4 nets better mpg and the timing is within safe range of the engine and injectors, I wouldn't mind the on/off behavior.

I just tried catcher #5 with timing on #4 and torque #3. Everthing else is default. I have not driven enough to calculate it by hand, but the display went up from 17-17.5 to 20-21mpg. I also noticed that my truck seemed to have as much power (also a little more smoke) on #5 as it did on #7 with this timing setting. Can timing make that much difference? Is it safe to leave the timing set on #4 for daily driving? If so, I love my smarty even more!

If I could get an answer to that, I would switch back to REVO from 4.11.

Adding timing increases the efficiency and lowers EGTs. There is a limit on how much timing can be run, especially under high boost conditions. With the CR engines running retarded timing to reduce NOx emissions any gain in timing is a plus.
I have the timing set to 4 and no issues to report.

I have always gotten best mileage with smarty on higher odd # settings.
I usually keep it on 5 but the times I have put it on 7 and 9 the mileage is better provided you keep your foot out of it. On my way from Houston to Colorado and back I had it on level 7, moderate tq and got 19.5 mpg for the trip. Highway mileage on level 5 usually only runs about 18.5

Thanks Mikey, I am going to try it for a while and leave it on catcher#5. If my hand calculations increase half as much as the overhead reading, this new software is awsome.

I have my REVO currently set as follows-
SW 3
Timing -4
RP - Mild

The Overhead reads 2mpg higher than it did with the 4.11, but the actual MPG is the same. I drove 500 miles yesterday on this setting.

The one thing I have noticed is that the REVO smokes like the 4.4 Beta did, I am assuming from the added pressure. I am going to turn the pressure off the next time I travel and see what that does. The Beta 4.4 also had extremely high overhead readings without an actual increase in mileage. I drove with the 4.4 for 4 months last year. I loved the power, but it didn't help with the mpg's.

I think that the timing on 4 and SW-3/5 would be your best setting for mileage. I was trying the RP mild setting to see if that helped at all. It might have helped when the cruise was set, but in the city, there was more black smoke than I would like to see for mileage.
