Question Another pyrometer question...

I just installed my EGT gauge. I went with the SRT/10 A pillar, and the MOPAR(Auto meter) gauge.

I did the install PRE turbo. The install went well, and everything worked the first time. Gauge actually dims with the dash lights It took me about 2 and 1/2 hours, and i really took my time. You only get one chance with the drill

I know this has been asked, but i cant get a deffinate answer. What is the limit i`m concerned with. I only did one run so far, i just finished an hour ago. From a standstill, going WOT she hit 1,100 degrees as she went through the geers. Thats with the Edge dissconnected. I`m leeving tommarrow night for a 2,500 mile trip, pulling my 10,000 lb trailer, and i want to hook up the Edge. Prolly put it on level 2 for towing.

i`ve heard that the 3rd gens top out anywhere from 1,200, to 1,400 degrees. What temps are you guys seeing? I woulkd like to know when to let off the peddle as i climb the hills.

On another note, how do you fasten the gauge into the mount? I have her snug in there, but i can just pull it out if i wanted to. Nothing on the instructions about this.

Thx fella`s

Most are saying...Don't peak over 1400 and don't run continuos over 1300. You live down low so it should be easier to maintain a little cooler temps than that.

Have no idea about securing your gauge...

1250 for extended periods of time, i would not exceed 1450 for short bursts.

Most people with the SRT-10 pillar say they have to wrap tape around the gauge or some type of silicone bead to keep it tight.

My Westach guage came with a bracket that holds it in place. It's a little tight getting it in there but it works great.
As for towing, I pulled about 11,000 a couple of weeks ago and my EGTs never went above 1000 degrees and that's with the EZ on level 5! If you're easy on the pedal and you don't hit any mountains you should be fine. If it starts getting hot just back off..

I have the same items as you do and used small square cuts of Velcro on the housing of the gauge and the inside of the pillar. I'm picky and can say that this solution works very well with this set-up.
