Another leveling kit question

A few questions about leveling kits. I want to put a leveling kit on my truck but have heard a lot of talk on here about death wobble and longevity. I want the truck to look slightly lifted but don't want the front taller than the back. My concern is that I don't want death wobble and I don't want to put added stress on my front end suspension components. If a leveling kit is so bad for suspension than why do the new power wagons have it done? Do they have different components up front ( other than the disconnnecting sway bar) than the HD diesels have? If I do this what are peoples recomendations to do it right. Can I just throw them on and get an alignment or do I need to replace other things? What problems might I have? What set up are people using? I have seen a friends truck with tuff country's and it looks about perfect. Has anyone done the tuff country's? Pics? Any help would be appreciated. BTW I own a 3500 long bed SRW w/BFG 315's

I have had a levleing kit on my 03,05,and my 06 and never had any problems with death wobble on any of them and I have a 2" kit and it looks good and handles good. I had cooper st 33x12.50x17 on my 03 and 05 and I just bought cooper stt 35x12.50x17 for my 06 but have not put them on yet.

I added this kit to my truck and have had no problems. Lifted the front just right for great looks, but didn't seem to effect handling at all.

The first pic in my gallery shows it installed.

TexasCTD, I just got those same spacers. I am installing them Monday. Did you do the install yourself? how long did it take? Other than disconnecting the sway bar, did anything else need disconnected? like the trackbar?

thanks

When I had my leveling kit on my truck it was a pretty simplistic install. I had a spring compressor though so it took me about an hour per side, bare in mind I was BS'ing w/ a buddy of mine half the time. You can disconnect the sway bar to get it to drop a little and you should be able to slid the kit in.

My truck looked good w/ my kit on it(See My Photo Gallery) but it just wasn't big enough. So then I put on a 4" lift.

Ron,

I had a very mechanically inclined friend help me with mine. It took us probably a couple of hours including BS-ing around and talking. We disconnected the track bar and sway bar, because for some reason we couldn't get the pass. side spring to let go. The axle was still pushing up on it even after dropping it. Just took some work is all. But since you have a spring compressor you should have no problem.

Good luck with it. You will be glad you did it.

Robert

I'll chime in another 2 cents while im at it.

I went to NAPA to rent a spring compressor but I was sorly mistaken when I started using it. Our springs are stiffer then an old man on Viagra. Make sure you don't have your hands or fingers near the area of the spring while putting in the leveling spacer, if you have to make sure you do it quickly and safley.

One of the prongs broke loose while I had my hand near it, luckily it had 2 more prongs holding it. After it broke I didn't use the compressor no more. Chickened out, took the long way and dropped the track bar. But my hand is still intact leaving me to type this message without taking an hour.
