another how to lower egts ?
i drive by my egt gauge if i am pulling or playing. I try to keep it below 1400 and that is for just long enough for me to react and back off. I run my diablo on econ/performance. what would be the best mod to cut a few hundred degrees off.
1. remove cat, I really do not want truck to be alot louder or drone while pulling
2. intake such as cfm+ or bd at the DTR site, i dont plan on any more mods and dont think i have enough for the intake to make a diff. I am not looking for a power increase from it just egt reduction
I went in with a buddy and we got 2 diablos and 2 S&B intakes from RPM outlet, he cant get the diablo to work on his truck and they will not help. I dont know if he will get the money back but maybe he could get the CFM intake instead. Will i see anything from it? I have research some threads some say it is worthless others claim fuel mileage increase(which i need too) and lower egts

I put a CFM+ on my 06 and it made a difference in EGT. Can't say if it helped in the MPG department though.
There is a hill in Iowa on Hwy 92 going westbound towards Knoxville (for inquiring minds), that I referred to as the 1200(f) degree hill, because when I flat-towed my Jeep behind my truck that was what the EGT would go to.
After I put the CFM+, it would stay at 1050(f). OAT was only about 5 degrees difference on those occasions. It can still get to 1200(f), but you have to work it hard to do that.
Hope that helps. I have no experience with the other aftermarket Intake airhorns.
Don't buy it for MPG, it'll take along time for the payback.

I run the DiabloSport Predator, an Airaid intake, an HTB2 62/12 turbo, Rokktech, Quad boost fooler, and a muffler delete. My temps never go above 1250 degrees no matter what. My temps stay about the same with the stock turbo on the truck too. I have had people tell me my guage is reading incorrectly but when I was running a Quad Race box my temps got to 1500 degrees easily. I even put a new thermocouple on the truck to make sure it was all reading correctly and the numbers did not change.
Maybe I just got lucky....

we have close to the same setup, i have the Rokkteck muffler and still have my cat which i know increases egts but i like it drone free. the westach gauge is supposed to be very accurate and i could easily peg it on 1500 on the 100hp setting. i have noticed my driving style has some effect i ease into the throttle i dont jerk on my truck to save tranny and other parts. I know if i put more to it the boost fooler kicks in and cools the egts

I still have my CAT too. We are supposed to start having emissions testing for diesels in the next year or two so there's no use messing with it. I think the truck sounds perfect the way I have it. I have Westach guages too.....
