Another Homemade Jobby
Finally got around to finishing up the fuel system upgrade on the '07. It's now sporting an inline backup pump (Walbro FRB-22), to a good-sized 12um water separator, stock filter and a 2um right before the CP3. No way any water or dirt is getting in there, and no worries about lift pump failure anymore either.

It showed an additional 2psi drop under load at the CP3 inlet due to the new filter, I believe. Still idles at 10psi and runs down the road at 9psi, same as before, just showing a bit more pressure drop with the skinny pedal down running only on the stock pump. The Walbro runs off a relay and switch down by the transfer case shifter. Flip the switch under load and fuel pressure jumps right back up 3-4psi. The filter mount uses an existing bracket on the frame. I have no idea what it is or what it's doing there, but makes a great place to mount something with a single 7" long 1/2" bolt. The pump mount uses an existing hole in the frame, tapped for a 10mm bolt. No holes drilled for this install whatsoever.

You know.....since you've got two pumps, and the relay, you could automate the second one. You could use one of those pressure switches like the 3rd gen low fuel pressure light. Run it through the relay and when the pressure drops below 5 psi the second pump would kick in all by it's self.

The FRB-22 is an in an internally-regulated (8-10psi) autopulse design. It's already "on-demand," as 'twere. I only used the switch so it would not be kicking in all the time when I don't really need it. I thought about the pressure switch thing and actually acquired some different switches and time-delay relays to experiment with. But after I found the FRB-22, I realized that was just alot more complicated than it needed to be.

looks like a donaldson filter head, where did you get it? got a part number? what filter manufacturer/part number are you using for the 2 micron filter? what are the inlet and outlet sizes on that filter head.
Sorry for all the questions but I'm looking at making a remote mount filter for my 6.7 shop truck when I get it and this is exactly what I'd like to do.

another option you could do is to mount a contact switch on the skinny peddle linkage so when ya mash past a certain point it turns the pump on and when ya back out of it it breaks contact and second pump turns off. Like the way guys wire in nitriuos safty switches so when system is armed it can only come on at WOT.

Shibby, the head comes from here:

Not sure of the make, but very reasonably priced, with 1/2" ports. I have another one just like it hanging off the intake horn up front for the 2um filter:

That is an excellent idea, and probably something I will look into doing if I ever increase fueling with a tuner or bigger injectors.
I have a total of about $200 into the fuel system upgrade on this truck now, including the miscellaneous bits, hose, clamps, fittings - not to mention more than a few hours of my own time making custom brackets. I'm pretty sure it'll outperform any FASS or Airdog system in terms of both filtration and reliability any day.

Good deal... You seem to run a little more pressure than I do. I cruise at about 7.5psi between the 2um and a CP3.
That bracket is used on the hemi trucks, but not the CTD's.
