Which Amsoil should I run?

Well...partially due to my recent breakage...and the rest due to the fast it makes sense (and Don M agreed), I want to run a synthetic engine oil.

Not for any of the smoke and mirror reasons (noise, mileage, wear, etc etc)...

But for one reason...and one reason only. HIGH FLASH POINT!

So...syn experts...lay it on me. Opinions?

I will still change it on normal intervals...say 7500 miles...cause I am way over fueled and need to remove soot/diesel regulary.

Thanks...

I run 5w-40 Shaeffer's 9000 . I run it for the same reasons you are going to be running it. I do run Amsoil in my cars but I have had good results with Shaeffers.

I run the AMSOIL 15w-40. If you want to rid of soot and contamination, get a bypass filter

FS-2500 or
AMSOIL Bypass

Clean oil is the best way...I am not so worried about the money.

Has anyone ever watched what a bypass does to oil pressure/flow?

Alright...I think I have just stumbled into an "Oil Gate" scandle.

I have been reading product data sheets.

All of the flash points listed for several Amsoil, Shaeffer, Delo etc in both synthetic/syn blend and regular oils are showing 440-460 degrees f.

Delo 400 15-40 was the highest at 460????

What gives? Maybe I will be staying with Delo...my life long oil.

Step up to the plate oil guys...I want to hear an explanation!

Without any doudt< i would recommend the Amsoil 15W-40 premuim diesel oil; product AME-QT.

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ame.aspx

I am very surprised you haven't been using this, or something like this already with all those $$ invested. You will notice a tangible difference. My old shot out 1994 sees more oil pressure now. I will probably have to drain the sludge after switching and clean out the motor. I too follow more or less regular drain intervals despite using primo oils due to the soot produced by my rigs.

Chris

Email me and I can provide more information if needed.

I found this:

Not sure how reliable these numbers are. I sent an email to someone who can provide more information as I too am curious.

I compared spec sheets...and I could not see the HARD proof to why it is better...let me read the posted stuff now.

Maybe I should become a Amsoil jobber on the side...just to support my massive consumption of oil and other fluids due to my 3 trucks, harley, and dirt bike.

10-30 Amsoil kicked but with a flash of 520! I high viscosity index..etc etc.

But...the best 15-40 seems tobe a tie between Amsoil and Redline.

Redline has a higher flash...but Amsoil has a higher viscosity index.

Arhhh....Delo still doe snot look THAT bad. Far better than the other pet based.

I am thinking 15-40 Amsoil...price is right too.

I am suprised that the "oil experts" have not spoken?

What about tranny and diffs? I have run dextron and atf-4 in my ATS...
I have always run 75-90 Mobile in the diffs.

I am thinking of bumping up the rear to something higher.

It appears that my cover gets plenty hot...paint peals in a week...and rust forms from the heat cycles/condensation (outside only of course).

So Amsoil ATF?
Amsoil Severe Gear ...75-90 front 75-140 rear? Or 75-90 both and ignore the heat? I have NO metal or visual problems in the rear.

I use the there ATF in my G56. transfer case, and I also have been using there Severe Gear in all my trucks for the last 7 years. Before it was Severe Gear they called it Series 2000. I think the new stuff is little bit better than the 2000.
