All terrain tires on a dually.

Hey all I am new to this forum and new to drining a DRW 4 X 4.

I do alot of hunting in the fall and need to know what is a good aggressive allterrain tire that will fit on a 17X6 wheel, 2005 dually. I have heard that you could put 295/70r 17's that sounds awful wide to me. Any suggestions ? By the way this is a great site.

Thanks

I run 255/85s on a 16" x 6.5" steel rim, and they are almost perfect. I just got a set of BFG MTs, more aggressive than the AT, but with as heavy as our trucks are, I felt it would be worth the money and tire wear.

why go not go mud grip, these trucks are heavy, and sink fast, i haven't found an all terain that works worth a hoot in mud, i'm running the kumho venture MT, they look like a BFG MT, but about 35bucks cheaper, and i get 35 to 40000 out of them. I'm running the stock 16in rim and can't get any bigger than a 235/85, or the tires will rub when loaded.

Thanks for the idea of running an M/T tire I like that, but does anyone know if there is one that fits the new 17" wheels that DC put on the 05's.
Also can you put 265/70's on the rear of a dually without them rubbing?? Or how wide can you go???? So far all I could find were the cooper discoverer stt and st tire's but I don't have any experience with them.
Thanks for the help

without the tires changeing the gear ratio on your truck all you can run is the 235/80/17's. the ather tires are shorter therefore lowering the gear ratios. Mastercraft is the only mud tire i have seen that fits these dually's and i'm not to sure on their reliability

Im running Toyo Open Countrys 285 70 17s on stock rims with a 2 inch lift. I needed 1" 1/4" wheel spacers in the rear so the tires don't touch each other. Thier a meaty A/T. I think its a perfect fit. And thier D rated.

PM Northslope, he's got a set of NICE all terrains on his Dually, not sure of the brand though. I wanna say Firestones......overall I think they're 32's, but they're also skinny and leave a nice gap in the duals.

No, there in't much selection for our 17" wheels. I believe Mastercraft makes an AT tire in our stock size. I was told also that you can fit 265'sor 285's on our duals but I'm not sure on that. I need some taller, more aggressive tires. If only wishes come true.

Thanks for all the help there's just not alot of options to fit on a 17" wheel. Maybe I will just go with the cooper ST in the factory size 235/80r 17 just not very aggressive. I don't know if you need spacers to put on the 265 or 285's there are some good options there.
Thanks again.
