Airbox Mod Seems to have made a difference..

I cut a 4 1/4" hole in the bottom of my airbox. Why 4 1/4? Cause that's the biggest hole saw I own.

It really feels as though the engine runs better with a little more getup on acceleration. I must say this is the first mod I've done where I felt a difference.

Have you tried running some ducting to the bottom of the bumper to create a type of ram air?

No I haven't but I saw the other guys Home Depot setup which I though was a good idea. Maybe another day.

You could put one of your airhorns under the hole.

It'll keep the critters out, and you'll have an audible turbo boost when you flip the lever.

Why couldn't you duct it up to the area under the wipers? Wouldn't that be like the Scotty? I imagine that some home depot parts would work. Maybe cut the hole in the back instead of the bottom.

That would work to. Sorry, I was in gasser mode for a minute and they all like to pull their cold air from the front bumper and fender. Creates more of a ram air effect. Maybe at speeds over 70.

Yeah many of us did this a year ago and put in a big O elbow or just a chunk of pipe. Our filter-minders don't pull down now. Can also hear the turbo better. Makes the ebrake more noisey tho. Dunno if that is a bad thing.

Just cut a 4" hole in the bottom of the air box, and attach a piece of 4" PVC to it with a 90* elbow on it. That's about all there is to it. Do a search on air box mod and see what that turns up.

Thanks guys I needed a mod on the cheap. I took the boot between the airbox and fenderwell off and It may be my imagination but I seem to have about 2 psi difference at 60mph. I ordered a pack of 6 1"dia airbox vents for a mortorcycle, I saw the idea in an earlier thread. I am going to go to the hardware store tonight to find the piping I need to duct up to the windshield from a 4" hole in the bottom.
I just had a thought, I can point my windshield washer into it and when I need more power I can just hit the lever

That's how the Scotty Ram Air III works so I guess it works on diesels too.

Doesn't the scotty pull from just the fender and windshield cowl? I was talking about having a scoop under the front bumper leading up to the air box scooping air up. I'm confused.
