Aftermarket Exhaust Manifold's?
I blew the gasket on my exhaust manifold a week or so ago. I originally thought it was leaking at the flange where the manifold and turbo meet, but it ended up being the 6th exhaust port, which is closest to the cab.
Anyhow, I was talking to the mechanic, and he reccomended using an aftermarket ATS exhaust manifold. Im not talking about the ATS intake horn, but the actual manifold. I just don't remember seeing much about those on here and dont really know how I'd benifit from it? I was told that with an aftermarket turbo that it would be a great idea, and I agree, but dont really know why?
What other brands are good? and of course, why would I need one and what will it do for me?

all the manufactures say quicker spool due to a pulse design. i couldnt honestly say, as i did twins the same day. sorry.
but, the aftermarket multi-piece manifolds do prevent cracking cause of the expansion joints.

BossHogg, let me know what you decide because I have been looking into getting a manifold for my truck also and just putting the turbo and manifold on all at once. I have also heard that it will help spool up a little bit and that is just sounds better. Let me know what you decide, all the ones I have found so far are around 4 to 500$ and some of them that isnt including the gaskets.

Well when I had my leak I took the truck back to James Northum, as he installed the turbo in the first place. I had guessed that the leak was coming from the turbo/manifold connection and I knew James would stand behind his work. He did replace the gasket free of charge, but when he bolted everything back up it still had a leak. He then thought it might be the manifold, and had a replacement he could have sold me, but it ended up not being the manifold. He then went out of his way to order the gaskets quickly and install the new ones on my manifold....that was TWICE he had to install the manifold. He found that the 5th & 6th exhaust port were also leaking, but ended up replacing them all for a more even seal.
Anyhow, I've gotta thank James for helping me out in a pinch, and not trying to sell me something I didn't exactly need right now!
At some point, I will have to try one though and I heard the DTT one is nice.
