As far as filtering efficiency is concerned, the only real way to tell would be through oil analysis.

I know with my '03 and PG7 I was around 4-5 ppm silicon at each sample. Doesn't get much better than that, even with a factory filter.

Food for thought - I just had my copy of DieselPower magazine delivered (Oct 07) and about 30 pages in there's an advertisement for S&B. It's essentially two pages of test results for 'Dry Performance' filters including S&B, OE, AFE and AEM. The results are quite surprising. They've also included a 5 gram packet of ISO Coarse Test Dust used in the testing process for reference (looks like light brown talcum powder). And while I do realize that it is an advertisement for S&B, their statement in the add is essentially that their company won't release a dry filter until they can produce one that can demonstrate a min of 99% efficiency. For now I'll stick with my Pro-Guard 7. It's a little more work to clean, but it gives me piece of mind. It's an interesting read if you get your hands on a copy.

When I change my oil in about 1,500 I will do an analysis. I swapped to the prodry about the same time I changed my oil, and I had an analysis done with my last change.

It will be a while before I change it but when I do, and I get my test results back I will start a thread on the topic.
