Aero Turbine 4040xl installed today

Installed in the stock muffler location. Absolutely no drone in the cab at any cruising speed...either in 30mph residential or at 75mph interstate/highway. Acceleration has deep throaty sound all the way up to desired speed. At idle the sound is also deeper and more throaty than stock. Satisfied with the 4040xl and achieved the sound I was looking for.

would you describe the sound as "raspy" at all? I installed a 41" Donaldson and it has a very raspy tone.

I have the regular 4040 with cat delete and its not raspy at all. It does drone a bit but its one of the best sounding mufflers I have heard on a diesel.

I have a 4040 on my 92 and really like it... My co worker has a 4040XL without the cat and it's okay, but I like my MBRP better, but thats just me.

To me, a "raspy" sounding exhaust would be more redneck glass pack sounding with some popping. I would not describe the 4040xl in that way. I'm sure there are deeper more throaty sounding exhausts/mufflers out there but I didn't want to hear the exhaust when I reached desired speed. You only really hear the 4040xl when you're on the gas or at idle

Still having the cat on really helps with "raspiness"... A resonator would help tone things down on a turbo back exhuast... Having a after market turbo, the combination of the 5" pipe and the turbo, I love the way my 5" MBRP exhaust sounds.
