Aero 4040 Muffler

Just wondering if anyone has used one. The most important question I want to know is there any drone while towing?

I had one once and then sold it to my brother and put on a Donaldson 51. Oh my bro drives a PSD. Aero had bad drone.

i hauled a toyota land cruiser for 2500 miles... it has bad drone while towing you almost needed ear plugs... we were going 80 mph though
but for straight driving it is great nice sound and quiet in the cab at idle

If you are going with an AeroTurbine muffler then get the XL model. It has a built in resonator. I have a AeroTurbine 5050XL on my stack. Loud sometimes but no drone.

I have the AeroTurbine 5050XL and installed it 4 inches behind the cat as it states in the install instructions. The dorne was BAD, right under the passenger' seat. I called AeroTurbine and was told to install it as far to the rear as possible, under the truck bed, back more than the stock muffler was. Theres no dorne while every day driving, it sounds excellent, when towing, starting off from a dead start, when pulling hard getting onto highway, there is some dorne, not too bad, once you get up to speed towing there is very little dorne while towing

The key is to make sure the exhaust is solid. I put 4 hangers on just my 4040 and almost all the drone was gone....

I was given the same advise, but can't figure out how. Did you put a large hanger U-clamp on the 4040 itself, what size, 8 inch and where can I get one or two on line? Any advise would be helpful, thanks.

Any good muffler shop will have 3/8 or 1/2" hanger rods. Cut to fit and weld to the muffler. I will try to get you a few pics.....

OK, I'm going to give this a try and see if it cuts out the little drone I get when pulling had.

I picked up a 6 inch muffler clamp and 2 hangers. Where I moved my muffler to the rear as far as possible it is centered under the two frame hangers that held the rear of the stock muffler. So my plan is to place the 6" clamp dead center on the muffler and make a "V" with the two hangers. Hopefully with a clamp around the middle of the muffler it will be solid enough to cut-out all the drone.

Using a 4040L right behind the cat. No drone. No special hangers.

That is not what the product info says:

Perhaps you are referring to the 4040XL?
