Advice about chips for truck w/ manual transmission

Hello,
I'm looking for a little help deciding what modifications I should do to my 06 cummins w/ maual transmission to get a little more when I am towing.
I'm just looking for a little power and torque for towing my 5th wheel, I want to make sure its safe and wondering if the extra power will tear up a manual or the clutch like it does with the automatics. I've been thinking about the edge juice w/ attitude so I can adjust it on the fly. I know I want a new intake, just not sure which one is the best to get, and am looking at a turbo back exhaust. Possibly MBRP 5", I'm just worried it will be too noisy.

Does anyone have suggestions on what a good combo of accesories would be?

Thabks in advance

I would get the smarty jr with some guages if you just want little more power. Or just go ahead and get the smarty sr for a little more money so you won't never out grow it.

Yes on Smarty for '06.

I second the Smarty Sr. advice. I'm stuck on sw#1 w/stock clutch and my camper. Marco's got some low smoke modifications coming up and when I get that clutch.....

I run a Quad Xzillaraider. Works great for towing, but I don't use it on setting 3 with a load, or it's pretty hard on the stock clutch.

Edge J/A is a very nice unit. Smarty Jr. a better and Sr. the best. Anything you add will affect your clutch so make sure there are enough pennies in your piggy bank to cover a clutch. They always blow out at the worst times.

A stock clutch can handle roughly 400-450 hp genuinely, but the possibility to fry it is always there. I would suggest the smarty Jr w/ some good gauges, stay on sw1 or 2 and save money for a new clutch, because if you will be towing alot you will inevitably need it.

My stock clutch was fine until I put the car trailer behind it, then it would slip bad.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds to me like you almost need to be more careful with the manual trans than you do with an auto. It also sounds like most people are really hooked on the smartys as well. Maybe exhaust and intake aren't as necesary if I can't handle all the power the smarty gives me anyway. A little sound might be nice and lower EGT's can't hurt. Any advice on exhaust?

Take care of the cat and put a nice high flo muffler on, or keep the cat and straight the truck. Its a full 4" exhaust from the factory.

I would build your own air intake. paying 450 for a smooth tube and a big air filter or more to me is a BIG waste of money. ive been there and done that and wont ever do it again. 5" exhaust maybe too loud for you and the smarty JR or edge should do what you want without trashing your clutch

I've got a BDTD running Crazy Larry and put out just shy of 450Hp on the dyno with the stock clutch. As long as a guy doesn't go crazy the stocker should last a while. If you abuse it though you'll be needing a new one but it's still way cheaper than the bill you'd have to redo an auto.

There's lotsa Smarty fans here but you can always get the Bully Dog's for a good price in the classifieds, I'm plenty happy with mine.

Like said above, get some gauges first, open up your air cleaner. I wouldn't waste a lotta money on a whole cat back system, all you need is a flow through muffler, my 40" Nelson cost a whole $67.
