Advantages of Stainless Turbo Housings?

Are there any real benefits to going with a stainless turbo or is it just for looks?

While we're on the subject, what's the HTT equivalent of a II SPS or Silver 62/64? It seems these are the most common singles you see people running, so I assume that's probably what will work best for me.

My goal is about 550-600hp used mostly for empty driving and drag racing with the occasional 12k load on the back (although I always turn the power down for towing). Of course I would like instant spool-up and 1200* max EGT's, but since we're not talking twins that's not gonna happen.

What's the best compromise for what I'm doing though?

I would recommend a silver 62 if you tow a bit. Still good for over 600 hp, and tows like a dream

Stainless will run cooler. The HTT 62/13 stainless spools just as fast as the regular 62/12 and cools a little MORE than the 62/14.

Ah, now I see why SS is so popular.

I couldn't find the one you're referring to on HTT's site. Do you know how much they go for (you can PM me if you don't want to post it here)?

So you guys think a 64 will be too big for me?

So you think with injectors and a CP3 I would have enough fuel for the 64 to be pretty driveable around the city? Is there much of a difference in lag and smoke between the 62 and 64?

The last thing I want to do is go too small and have to deal with high EGT's. Kevin's EGT's seemed pretty good in his recent race thread with the 62. I don't see my truck ever being faster than his, so judging by that the 62 seems like it should work...

...so many tough choices!

I have the SPS 62/14. It spools the same as the stocker (with fuel), I roll around 54 psi for boost, and at the end of the 1/4 mile I was seeing 1450*. Not too shabby i dont think considering my times indicate I am running in the 600-635 range!! Plus it does a great job for towing!!

been running the stainless steel 64 charger on top of a modded s400 for a couple weeks now. I am very happy with the quickness and drivabilty. I have also ran a 64 in a single form before and was happy with it.

My 64 looks real slick over my S400 too? ;-)

Why talk yourself out of twins?
