? about exhaust tips
I have a 41" Donaldson with the stock 4" pipe. will a tip change the sound considerably? right now it seems it has a lot of whistle and is raspy. the whistle is fine, but I want it more deep, resonating type sound. Tip size? Suggestions? tip worth it? I prefer a welded tip opposed to a screw on, but I am open for suggestions. thanks.

I don't think just a tip will make too much of a difference, i know when i welded my old 5 inch tip on i couldn't tell hardly any difference. When i went to a 5 inch straight pip to 6 inch stacks i noticed a huge difference then...very deep rumble and very loud when i smash it. I think going to a bigger exhaust is the only way to get that rumble your after not just a tip. Hope this helps

a tip will not change the sound of ur exhaust, what changes the sound of ur exhaust is the length of ur muffler, what kind of baffles are inside the muffler and how the exhaust is routed. on my truck i am running 5inch exhaust, with a D.N.A race muffler, a 45 degree elbow before the rear tire with a 6"x 18" long Rolling Big Power tip. it is really loud and that is what i was after. now if i ran the exhaust behind the rear tire, it would quiet up the exhaust some because of how much longer the exhaust would be.

the exhaust tip definatley can make a differance in the sound especially if your going from 4 inch exhaust to a 5 or 6 inch tip and the stock exhaust is cut back 6 inches or more = more drone and definatley changes the exhaust tone on exit & is even more more noticeable with mods !

The bigger the tip the deeper the sound. My last truck I had 5" strait pipe with a custom made 8" by 33" tip real deep sounding and way loud but the tip was a little spendy but I cant remember the company but they sell 7" tips

I can say for sure that a tip will change your sound. I put a 5"x18" on mine and it changed the sound. I liked the raspy sound better that the deep sound. I think that the rolled edge contributes to no longer having the raspy sound.
